Using the SpeakM app.

1. Who we are

The SpeakM mobile app and its services are provided by SpeakM Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales at 71–75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “SpeakM” mean SpeakM Ltd; “you” means the person using the app.

2. Accepting these terms

By creating an account or using the SpeakM app, you agree to these terms and to our App Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

3. Who can use SpeakM

You must be at least 13 years old to use SpeakM. If you're under 18 (or the legal adult age in your country), you need a parent or guardian's permission to use the app and to subscribe to a paid plan. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

4. What the app does

SpeakM helps you learn and practise speaking a foreign language. It includes pronunciation exercises that use your microphone for assessment, written exercises, and progress tracking. Some content is free; some requires a paid subscription. We add, remove, and change features as the product evolves.

5. Your account

You are responsible for keeping the credentials used to sign in (Apple ID, Google account, or email password) confidential. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you suspect someone else is using your account, write to support+legal@speakm.com.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, threaten, or impersonate any other person.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
• Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to interact with the app or to attempt to bypass usage limits.
• Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialise access to the app or its content.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or to other users' accounts.

7. Content you submit

If you choose to share a voice clip with us (when reporting a problem), or send us an error report or message, you grant SpeakM a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use that content for the purpose of operating, supporting, and improving the app. You retain ownership of your content. You confirm that you have the right to share what you send and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

8. Subscriptions and payments

Some features of SpeakM are available only with a paid subscription. Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on your device. The price and currency shown at checkout in your local store is the binding price.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (for example, monthly or yearly) and your payment method is charged the then-current price. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time from your device's subscription settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS, or Play Store → Subscriptions on Android). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.

Free trials and introductory offers. If your subscription started with a free trial or discounted introductory period, it converts to a full paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Refunds. Refunds for subscriptions are handled by the store you purchased through, under Apple's or Google's respective refund policies. We do not process refunds directly. We can, however, ask Apple or Google to look at a specific case on your behalf — write to support+legal@speakm.com.

9. Intellectual property

The SpeakM app, its lessons, illustrations, audio, code, the SpeakM name, the Stickman and Dotty characters, and all related logos are owned by SpeakM Ltd and protected by copyright and trademark law. These terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for personal language-learning purposes. They do not transfer any ownership.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete, or as described on our account-deletion page. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if your account presents a security risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you first.

11. Service availability

We aim to keep the app available and working but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may temporarily suspend access to perform maintenance or to deal with security issues. We may discontinue features, lessons, or whole languages with reasonable notice.

12. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the app will be error-free, fit any particular learning goal, or produce any particular outcome.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpeakM Ltd is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the total amount you paid to SpeakM during that period (or, if you have not paid anything, to ten pounds sterling).

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of England and Wales, except that, if you are a consumer resident in another country, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence under mandatory local law.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app or the law changes. The version displayed here, with the date at the top, is always the current one.
